Govern all by Your wisdom, O Lord, so that my soul may always be serving You as You will, and not as I may choose. Do not punish me, I beseech you, by granting that which I wish or ask, if it offends Your love, which would always live in me. Let me die to myself so that I may serve You; let me live to You, who in Yourself are the true life.

Looking for a short yet insightful topical catechism of our Catholic faith? With a tinge of humor? Well, guess what... I was surfing the web early this week and discovered the latest Catholic video podcast that is receiving raving reviews across the United States. It's a home-made (but professionally done) podcast called 'That Catholic Show' produced by Jennifer and Greg Willits in conjunction with sqpn.com and Rosary Army. Have a look and you will know what I mean! Just 5mins. And I bet you will watch all the other episodes at one sitting too! Below is the episode entitled 'Mercy and Charity'... it spoke to me as a Catholic parent and worker, trying to live a life of holiness. Have fun!
Below this, I have embedded a javascript to check for the latest episodes. You could also choose to subscribe to this podcast directly. Greg and Jennifer Willits also host the audio podcast called 'Rosary Army' which is also very good. Go to sqpn.com and you will see a list of Catholic podcasts. This is a new media for evangelisation!
Leave our Children with a Better World

Here is a video clip of a 12-year-old girl (Severn) speaking to delegates from across the world at the United Nations Conference on Environment & Development some years ago. The video is a bit old, but the message is prophetic and still rings true... worthy of reflection and our action.
Early this year, the report of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (United Nations) confirmed that global warming is a threat that we have to urgently tackle as a global community; it's no longer just a figment of imagination derived from science fiction. Recently on 7 July 2007, there were Live Earth Concerts all round the world to create awareness of the climate issues we are facing. It was a good effort. But one commentator wondered whether the tons of rubbish left behind at the mega concert sites after the event really did help Mother Earth.
As Christians, we are called to be witnesses and good stewards of God's Creation. The issues facing our world are many. What can we do? Lots... often requiring a little creativity but lots of determination in the face of inconveniences.
Join recycling programs around us - paper, plastics, glass
Avoid the use of plastic disposables - carriers, disposable eating utensils
Conserve water & electricity - check the wattages around our homes
Sacrifice some amount of creature comforts - air conditioning at home, in car
The list can go on... ask the Holy Spirit to show you. In all that we do, may we help sustain and leave behind a better world for our children. Let's listen to this girl. Click on Read More below to view video. She made a difference... so can we.
HopeXchange, an initiative of the ICPE Mission, has been working on a "Long Distance Adoption" project of children from the Phillipines, Ghana, India and Indonesia. What is it? Well, Long Distance Adoption is an act of love. Distant adoption improves the everyday life of children giving them the possibility to grow with human dignity in their own culture and surroundings, wherever possible, by the love of their family members.
It provides the basic needs for a child such as food and medicine, that in affluent societies are taken for granted. In this way, a small contribution towards long distance adoption is an effective way of reducing poverty and hunger in the world.
It also provides the privilege of becoming directly involved in a person’s life living in another continent and tracing his or her growth and development through the exchange of letters, photos and experiences.
This adoption does not imply any juridical or legal obligation neither on the part of the "adoptive parent/s" nor on that of the adoptee.
